Category Rating

LAN cables are categorized based on their performance capabilities. The category rating indicates the maximum frequency and bandwidth that the cable can support. For gaming, Cat6 and Cat6a cables are the most commonly used. Length and Flexibility

The length and flexibility of a gaming LAN cable can impact its performance. Longer cables can introduce more latency and signal loss, so it is recommended to use the shortest cable possible for your setup. However, the cable should also be flexible enough to allow for easy installation and management. Gaming LAN cables are often designed with flexible jackets and snag-resistant connectors to make them easy to route and position.

Connector Type

Gaming LAN cables typically use RJ45 connectors, which are the standard for Ethernet connections. However, some gaming LAN cables feature upgraded connectors, such as RJ45E or RJ45S connectors. These connectors have improved contacts and plating, which can reduce signal loss and improve connectivity. Additionally, some gaming LAN cables may come with LED lights or other visual indicators to provide a visual representation of the cable’s status or activity.
